The first warm days of the season deserve a classic cocktail as their accompaniment. Fresh lemon, orange slices and a splash of cherry juice make this beverage as colorful as it is refreshing.

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water

Cocktail

  • 1 cup gin
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Ice
  • 1 cup club soda
  • 4 orange slices
  • 8 maraschino cherries

Instructions

  • Step

    In small saucepan, heat sugar and water over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until mixture simmers and sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Remove from heat; cool.
  • Step

    In small pitcher, stir together simple syrup, gin, and lemon juice. Fill 4 glasses to brim with ice. In each glass, pour about 2/3 cup gin mixture; top with 1/4 cup club soda. Garnish each with orange slice and 2 cherries.
